Conversion of minivan into FMVSS compliant mobility van using modular concepts to accommodate power/manual fold-in ramp.

  • Structural Modifications: Redesigned cross-car structural sections and repositioned the fuel tank to support modular adaptability and compliance with accessibility requirements.
  • Crash Safety Simulations: Conducted crash simulations in accordance with FMVSS 208 (frontal impact), FMVSS 214 (side impact – moving deformable barrier and rigid pole), FMVSS 301 (fuel system integrity), FMVSS 207/210 (seating and seatbelt anchorage), and FMVSS 225 (child restraint anchorage).
  • Durability Engineering: Built a Model-Based Design (MBD) simulation model for the Altoona durability test; performed durability assessments to validate the structural integrity of modular configurations.
  • Demonstrated good correlation between simulation and physical test results.
  • Trim and Aesthetic Development: Designed and/or modified both interior and exterior trims of mobility vans to meet visual and functional targets, while ensuring manufacturability.
